My family had pizza twice this week because I was in Greensboro for a NC FCCLA leadership meeting with my students. I purchased a couple of frozen pizzas for them on Monday, they had hot dogs on Tuesday and sandwiches on Wednesday. I don’t remember what we had on Thursday and today, Friday we had Papa John’s Pizza. Yes, it’s been an eventful week.
However, I have some exciting news to share. This is my first year as the FCCLA (Family, Career, Community Leaders of America) which used to be FHA back in the day. I took two of my students to state competition sharing our chapter service project, Cougar PAWS. This is the meal I’ve shared twice on my school blog. We have prepared a meal for 100 and gave away about 20 -30 meals to our disadvantaged students in our high school. My FCCLA students shared this project display this week and won second place. They received the honor to go to nationals to compete in San Diego!
When we got back to school on Thursday we found out about a very generous, exciting, surreal blessing. Our trip was going to be paid for by a beneficiary. God is good! Our trip for four is going to be fully funded. My colleague, myself and my two students just booked our hotel, flight and registration today! Now you see why we’ve been eating pizza a lot this week.
I’m too excited and overwhelmed to thaw and cook, lol. I’ll get back on track next week. In the meantime, I’m counting my blessings and realizing what an impact feeding others has made on my high school students.
I hope you had a blessed week, too.
