Our second family game took off with Candy Land for our 4 and 6 year-old and then Apples to Apples with our 11 and 13 year-old, which we’ve never played. This game went well considering we used our toddlers as card placers and not the thinkers (if you’ve ever played this before). However after a few rounds, they were losing interest with their important jobs. My husband and I concluded after week two that we should divide and conquer because of the five year age span between our two sets of kids. Next week we’re going to try playing differently: one adult will play a game with the older kids and one adult with the younger ones. I think some games can involve our entire family like last week, all ages and stages and some will have us playing creatively.
The important fact is we are playing and spending time together in the same room, without screens, enjoying each other’s company.
Our menu this week (several items carried over from last week):
- Crock Pot Black Beans {Black Bean and Rice Bowls with cilantro, avocado and cheese}
- Chicken Parmesan and spaghetti {how to freeze pasta}, salad
- Tilapia Tacos, tortilla chips, black bean and corn salsa
- Breakfast for Dinner: Freezer Pancakes, fried eggs, turkey bacon, fruit
- BLT wraps with guiltless ranch, veggie chips, salad, carrot sticks
- Crock Pot Mexi Chicken and Rice Bowls {how to freeze brown rice}
- Crock pot baked potatoes, easy cheese and bacon, salad
Do you have game suggestions for our family: ages 4, 6, 11, 13?
